In April/May 2019 Chris Starmer visited the University of Nottingham's Ningbo Campus in China, where he presented two pieces of research:

  • he gave the keynote speech for the UNNC 2019 China Economics Undergraduate Research Conference - “How experimental and behavioral economics can improve economic modelling and policy?”
  • also he presented a research paper at the School of Economics, 2nd UNNC Workshop on Advances in Economic Research - “Investigating Choice Overload”.  This paper is co-authored with NIBS faculty - Robin Cubitt and Joerg Weber.

The presentations were part of a wider agenda to meet key stakeholders to discuss behavioural and experimental economics in China and the establishment of an experimental lab on campus.  This will align with CeDEx (the Nottingham NIBS partner) and plans are  being progressed by Dr Tom Lane (former NIBS1 PhD), and Professor Simon Appleton, Head of School of Economics at UNNC.

After graduating in 2017 Tom was employed at UNNC Business School before moving to an Assistant Professor role at the School of Economics.

Update: To mark the establishment of the new decision-making lab at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, CeDEx China hosted a workshop on behavioural and experimental economics from 22 to 23 November 2019.  The workshop was for all internal and external China-based CeDEx members, with other attendees travelling from overseas.  You can read about the event in this NIBS news item.
