NIBS Post Doc, Joerg Weber undertook a 5-day research visit to the University of Hamburg at the end of February 2018. The purpose of the research visit was twofold: to work intensively on an existing project about the role of inattention in consumer refinancing decisions; and to deepen the established links with the Group.  Joerg has previously presented preliminary results of this study at the NIBS Spring Workshop 2017.

He says; "During my visit I established a collaboration with Prof Markus Nöth, Chair of Banking and Behavioral Finance and Dr Moritz Lucas, to work on a project that investigates refinancing decisions in the consumer credit card market. This project uses a unique and confidential banking dataset that covers credit details of 160,000 customers. I received access to this data, and we began initial analysis and investigation of the research question".

Joerg presented the first results at the RBFC 2018 Conference in Amsterdam (unfortunatley this conference took place on the same dates as our NIBS Autumn 2018 workshop and so Joerg had to cancel his planned presentation to our network).  However he did say, "The funding provided by NIBS was crucial to establish this project and develop links with the researchers in Hamburg".
